Cholesterol in the Human Body

Parts of a human’s body are filled with a waxy substance known as cholesterol. It assists to create vitamin D, cell membranes and certain hormones. The blood functions as the transporter of cholesterol and distributes it to different parts of the body. Cholesterol is transported in round particle form called lipoproteins. There are 2 types of lipoproteins: the low density lipoproteins or LDL and high density lipoproteins or HDL.
1. Low density lipoprotein or LDL cholesterol
Low density lipoprotein or LDL cholesterol is generally known as bad cholesterol. It helps in the strengthening of plaque in arteries and this situation is called atherosclerosis. The LDL level should be low in the blood and if it is high it must be decreased. Good physical weight must be maintained and work out should be done on a regular basis. And there is an expected increase in number, the figure is unknown, of people who have a family history of high cholesterol levels.
A person who has a parent having high level of blood cholesterol and history of heart diseases should take cholesterol test from the early stage. Cholesterol test should be taken along with lipid test. The lipid test detects levels of kinds of fats in blood such as triglycerides, LDL, and HDL.
